On Friday, July 14, at 2.35 PM IST, the Chandrayaan-3 mission conducted by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) had a successful lift-off from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh.
Building on the achievements of Chandrayaan-2, this mission aims to showcase various capabilities, including reaching the moon's orbit, executing a soft landing on the lunar surface with a lander, and deploying a rover to study the moon's terrain.
Just sixteen minutes after lift-off, the propulsion module successfully separated from the rocket. This module will now go through an elliptical cycle, orbiting the Earth approximately 5-6 times, with its closest distance to Earth being 170 km and the farthest point reaching 36,500 km, all while moving towards the lunar orbit.
